Centrifugation is a process that uses centrifugal force to separate components of a mixture based on their sedimentation rate. The sample is placed in a tube, which is then spun at a high speed. The centrifugal force causes the denser components of the mixture to move to the bottom of the tube while the less dense components move to the top. This separation process can be used for various purposes, including isolating cells or organelles from a heterogeneous mixture, purifying DNADNA, or Deoxyribonucleic Acid, is the genetic material found in cells, composed of a double helix structure. It serves as the genetic blueprint for all living organisms. More or proteins, and separating blood components for diagnostic testing. There are several types of centrifugation, including differential centrifugation, density gradient centrifugation, and ultracentrifugation, each of which is optimized for a specific application.
