Maldives – Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) has confirmed that they have charged two individuals in connection to the kidnapping and assault of a young man in HDh. Kulhudhuffushi back in late May.
A crowd of masked assailants kidnaped Kulhudhuffushi, Raihfusge, Ahmed Ibrahim of age 29 on Saturday, May 29. He was forced into a car and later severely assaulted. On the attack, victim Ahmed Ibrahim sustained a Skull fracture and intracerebral hemorrhage. Four arrests were made regarding the case.
According to Sun.mv, the media official and Public Prosecutor at PGO, Ahmed Shafeeu, confirmed that a case had been filed on July 8 against two individuals at Kulhudhuffushi Magistrate Court – Muaz Ali, Maathundi, Kulhudhuffushi, and Mohamed Adam, Satellite, Kulhudhuffushi. Both were charged under the Penal Code for assault (section 120) and unlawful restraint (section 140) of a person.
It was also noted that the four additional persons were arrested regarding the case; however, their case will be sent back to the Police due to lack of sufficient evidence to prove the court’s case.
While all arrests made in connection to the case were made so under court orders – the Police have previously confirmed the suspects’ ages between 19-25.
